I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Dan Rettmann both as my personal farrier and as a horse show farrier. I have always been impressed with his professionalism and his ability to listen and hear what you want and in a matter of time produce what you were asking for. Dan has worked with the show horses in our barn and has helped make my job as a trainer easier. I don’t have to worry about shoeing problems and if something does come up Dan has been there to help fix it, even while at horse shows. Dan is someone that I can count on to show up when he is called and he is always on time if not running a little early, any of us in the horse industry know that is something that does not happen a lot. As the owner of Capall Equestrian Center it was my responsibility to find a farrier that I could rely on. I found that farrier in Dan Rettmann of Rettmann Equine. Dan has been working with all the horses at my facility in New Germany for the past two and a half years.
It was very important to me, as a business owner, to be able to offer to my clients a farrier that was reliable, professional, willing to listen to owner’s concerns and discuss options with them. Dan always arrives on time or if he is delayed even for a short bit he always contacts me and keeps me updated on his expected arrival time.
Dan treats all the horses with respect and is very professional in his dealings with me and with my clients. I have heard on more than one occasion how happy the clients are with Dan’s knowledge, willingness to discuss hoof issues with them as well as the quality of his work. If he happens to run into a situation where he is unsure of the best course of action, he will suggest a visit with the vet or he may choose to ask for a second opinion from one of his peers. The horse’s best interest is always foremost in his mind.
Dan has always been great about returning phone calls and responding to emergency requests. I feel very fortunate to know him and have him available for my own horses as well as my client’s. I would be more than happy to talk with anyone that may be considering him as their farrier.
