About Us
Growing up outside the small town of Glencoe, Minnesota, Dan Rettmann was raised around horses and the agricultural industry. As a child, he showed in 4-H, WSCA, and the Pinto Circuit. His bond with horses developed at an early age and continues to grow as he comes in contact with new horses almost every day.
During his teenage years, Dan worked at Westwood Farm. This is a Saddlebred, Morgan, and Hackney Pony facility owned by Jay and Jean Wood. At this farm, Dan helped with routine chores, grooming horses, and training horses. He accompanied the owners to many horse shows, helping with the grooming, feeding, and training at these events. This opportunity allowed Dan to observe a very well known farrier in the industry and soon this occupation intrigued his interest.
In 2002, Dan purchased his current horse trailer and began doing custom horse transporting for Westwood Farm. Since then, Dan has transported numerous horses throughout the United States.
In 2005, Dan attended the Minnesota School of Horse Shoeing to pursue his dream of becoming a farrier. He apprenticed with many seasoned farriers to obtain not only further knowledge, but also to gain experience.
Dan lives by his slogan “Rettman Equine - Shoeing Your Horse One Stride at a Time.” He proudly stands by his work and is a very reputable horseman within the industry.
